A Tale of Four Gamers: The Beginning

Some time ago, one of the regulars from our gaming club posted this into our forum.
Many moons ago I used to really enjoy an article in White Dwarf magazine (back when it was worth reading) known as ‘A Tale of Four Gamers.’ The basic idea was that four gamers (I guess the clue was in the title) set themselves a modest budget and deadline each month to buy, assemble and paint models. The intention was that within an agreed time they would have built a small force for Warhammer Fantasy Battle (around 1000 points) for the table top. Along the way they would game with the endeavours of their hard work. Having lost my way a little on the gaming and painting side of things lately I guess I need something to motivate me into starting a new project. A Tale of one Gamer sounds a bit lonely (sad!?) though so was wondering if it would appeal to anyone else?

Needless to say, such an idea was very popular amongst our group of players, and within a small amount of time, a handful of people had bought small armies and were getting ready for such a small campaign.
We have set our self up with the following restrictions,

  •  a player who goes by the name of "WinstonSmith" would narrate the campaign.
  • We start off with 750pts
  • Models and units must be painted in order to participate

Given that many of the people of gaming club haven't played Warhammer Fantasy before, this was a great way for us to get armies painted and experience a slow climatic themed campaign.
Hopefully we should be able to show of some of our work over the coming weeks!

So as such,

These were my first purchases. In the upcoming blogs, I'l be introducing our other participants.  And over the coming months hopefully you'll see us grow marvellous armies follow our campaign games.
